Description / Abstract:
Preface
This book provides a fundamental understanding of how physical
laws, human factor considerations, and design choices interact to
determine the ride, handling, braking, and accelerating behavior of
road vehicles used for personal transportation. It presents the
dynamics of road vehicle systems from a perspective that unifies
the treatment of the causes of physical events with a treatment of
the reasons for physical functions. Emphasis is placed on the
observation that driver vehicle system behavior is constrained by
physical law, but the driver's objectives and the designer's goals
ultimately will determine how the system is utilized and
configured.
