Description / Abstract:
Form:
This specification covers an aluminum alloy in the form of extruded bars, rods, wire, profiles, and tubing 2.000 inches (50.80 mm) and under in nominal diameter or least thickness (wall thickness of tubing) with a maximum cross-sectional area of 20 in
2 (129 cm
2), and amaximum circle size of 10 inches (254 mm) (see 8.8).
Application:
These extrusions have been used typically for structural applications requiring a combination of high tensile strength and compressive properties and good exfoliation-corrosion resistance, but usage is not limited to such applications.
Certain design and processing procedures may cause these extruded products to become susceptible to stress corrosion cracking; ARP823 recommends practices to minimize such conditions.
